Daxxify

Daxxify (DaxibotulinumtoxinA)

A longer-lasting FDA-approved botulinum toxin formulation. Used for the same dynamic-line indications as Botox — glabella, forehead, lateral canthi — with a duration that often runs longer per cycle.

What it is

Daxxify (DaxibotulinumtoxinA) is FDA-approved botulinum toxin formulated with a peptide stabilizer rather than human serum albumin. The pharmacological effect — temporary muscle relaxation — is the same as Botox or Dysport. The trial data show longer median duration, with many patients reaching six to nine months between treatments.

How we approach it

For first-time neurotoxin patients, we typically start with Botox. Once dosing is stable and your muscle response is understood, Daxxify becomes a reasonable next step if you want fewer visits per year. For patients whose Botox cycle has shortened over time, Daxxify is sometimes the better fit on the first conversation.

Dosing is not a one-to-one swap from Botox units. The injector recalibrates per area based on your prior response, your goal, and the published conversion data.

What to expect

Onset can be faster than Botox — some patients notice softening within two to three days. Full effect settles at one to two weeks. Duration depends on the individual; the median runs longer than Botox.

Post-treatment care is identical to other neurotoxins: do not lie flat for four hours, no hard exercise for twenty-four hours, no pressure on the treated areas.

Candidacy

Best suited for patients with established neurotoxin patterns who want longer intervals. Not appropriate for pregnant or nursing patients, or patients with neuromuscular disease.

Indicated for

  • Patients with stable neurotoxin needs who want fewer visits per year
  • Patients whose Botox cycle has shortened with repeated use
  • Patients with strong glabellar muscle activity

Not a candidate if

  • Pregnant or nursing patients
  • Patients with neuromuscular disease
  • First-time neurotoxin patients who would benefit from a shorter-cycle starting agent

Before your visit

  • Onset can be faster than Botox for some patients, but full effect still settles by two weeks
  • Cost per session is higher than Botox; per-month cost often comparable
  • Duration is individual — some patients see eight to nine months; others see four to five
