A medium-density hyaluronic-acid filler designed for lip volume restoration and moderate perioral lines. Suits patients who want defined lip enhancement beyond what Volbella provides.

What it is

Juvéderm Ultra XC is FDA-approved for lip augmentation and the correction of moderate perioral lines. Medium density — more substantive than Volbella, softer than Ultra Plus.

How we approach it

Ultra is our usual second-visit product for lip patients who started with Volbella and want more visible enhancement. Typical dose is one full syringe per visit; some patients use a half syringe at a refinement appointment.

What to expect

Volume immediate; swelling 1–3 days; final shape at two weeks. Duration up to one year per syringe.

Candidacy

Best for established filler patients who want a more defined lip result than Volbella delivers. Not appropriate as a first lip visit for cautious patients.

Indicated for

  • Lip volume restoration in patients with established filler tolerance
  • Defined lip border and body with visible (but considered) enhancement

Not a candidate if

  • First-time lip patients — start with Volbella
  • Pregnant or nursing patients
  • Patients seeking the most dramatic possible volume (Ultra Plus)

Before your visit

  • Lip swelling can be substantial for 1–3 days
  • Bruising is common; arnica and ice help
