What it is

Juvéderm Volbella XC is a thin, soft hyaluronic-acid filler designed for the lip body, lip border, and very fine perioral lines. Lower viscosity than Ultra or Ultra Plus, with a softer post-treatment feel.

How we approach it

We start most new lip patients on a half syringe of Volbella. Conservative dosing, two-week reassessment, and a follow-up syringe if more is wanted. Patients seeking more dramatic volume typically move to Ultra or Ultra Plus on subsequent visits.

What to expect

Volume immediate; swelling 1–3 days; final shape at two weeks. Duration up to one year per syringe.

Candidacy

Best for first-time or conservative lip patients who want hydration and subtle definition. Not for patients seeking pronounced volume in a single visit.

Indicated for

  • First-time or conservative lip patients
  • Hydration, definition, and subtle volume rather than overt enlargement
  • Fine perioral lines that catch lipstick

Not a candidate if

  • Patients seeking dramatic lip volume — consider Ultra Plus or RHA
  • Pregnant or nursing patients

Before your visit

  • Lip swelling can be substantial for 1–3 days; plan around social or photo commitments
  • Bruising is common at entry points; arnica and ice help
