// Hyaluronic-acid filler — midface, chin, jawline

Juvéderm Voluma

Juvéderm Voluma XC

A firm, lifting hyaluronic-acid filler used for midface volume restoration and structural contour — cheek, chin, jawline frame. Long-lasting and reversible.

What it is

Juvéderm Voluma XC is a hyaluronic-acid filler with high lift capacity — designed for deep placement to restore structural volume. FDA-approved for cheek augmentation, chin enhancement, and jawline definition.

How we approach it

Voluma is a structural product. We use it in the deep fat compartments of the midface and along the bony frame of the jaw and chin — not in the dermis or lip body.

A typical midface restoration uses one to two syringes per side across one to two visits. Jawline contour can require one to three syringes per side depending on the starting structure. The plan is written before treatment.

Cannula technique is preferred for deep placement — fewer needle entry points, lower bruising rate, lower risk of intravascular event in vascular anatomy.

What to expect

Volume is immediate. Swelling for one to three days obscures the final shape; the two-week follow-up is when results are judged. Voluma is long-lasting — up to two years per syringe in most patients.

Bruising at entry points is possible. Heavy exercise and alcohol are restricted for 24 hours.

Candidacy

Best for patients with midface volume loss, chin recession, or jawline softening who want a defined lifting effect. Not appropriate for the lips or for thin-tissue zones like the tear trough — different HA fillers suit those.

Indicated for

  • Midface volume loss showing as hollow cheek or tired lower lid
  • Chin and jawline definition
  • Patients seeking a lifting effect rather than soft hydration

Not a candidate if

  • Lips or under-eye hollows — different products are better suited
  • Pregnant or nursing patients
  • Patients with active facial infection or significant anticoagulation without clearance

Before your visit

  • Bruising and swelling are common; final shape at two weeks
  • Voluma is firm — placement depth is critical; deep cannula technique is preferred
  • Vascular events are rare but recognized; clinicians carry hyaluronidase
