// Deep collagen + skin tightening

Radiofrequency Microneedling

Insulated radiofrequency micro-needles

A combination treatment that delivers radiofrequency energy directly into the deep dermis through insulated micro-needles. Tightens skin, refines texture, and remodels collagen in a single device — with less downtime than ablative resurfacing.

What it is

Radiofrequency microneedling combines two technologies: micro-needles that penetrate to a controlled depth, and radiofrequency energy delivered through those needles into the deep dermis. The insulation on each needle protects the surface skin, allowing energy delivery at depth without compromising the epidermis. The result is significant collagen contraction and remodeling with much lower downtime than ablative resurfacing.

How we approach it

The clinician maps depth and energy settings per zone — jawline and neck typically take deeper, higher-energy passes; the upper face is treated more conservatively. Topical anesthesia is standard. For deeper indications (advanced acne scarring), dental block or pretreatment with oral analgesic is sometimes added.

A series of three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart is typical. Annual maintenance follows.

What to expect

The session is 60–90 minutes including anesthesia. Skin is red and feels sunburned for one to three days. Pinpoint crusting at needle entry points can persist 5–7 days. Makeup is typically fine after 48 hours.

Tightening becomes visible at two to six weeks. Collagen remodeling continues for three to six months per session.

Candidacy

Best for patients with early-to-moderate laxity, acne scarring, or texture beyond surface microneedling’s reach. Not for significant laxity requiring surgical lift, active infection, pregnancy, or active cold-sore outbreak.

Indicated for

  • Early-to-moderate skin laxity in the lower face, jawline, and neck
  • Atrophic acne scarring
  • Texture and deep-pore concerns beyond what surface microneedling can reach
  • All Fitzpatrick skin types (insulated needles bypass surface pigment)

Not a candidate if

  • Significant skin laxity requiring surgical lift
  • Active infection or open skin in the treatment area
  • Pregnant patients
  • Active cold-sore outbreak; antiviral prophylaxis required if history

Before your visit

  • Visible redness and mild swelling for 1–3 days; pinpoint marks for 5–7 days
  • Most plans run a series of 3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart
  • Strict SPF and sun avoidance across the series
