What it is
Microneedling uses a sterile array of fine needles to create controlled, microscopic punctures in the dermis. The body responds with a wound-healing cascade — new collagen, elastin, and a smoother surface integrate over weeks.
How we approach it
We use a powered device with adjustable needle depth, calibrated per area and per indication. Depth in the cheek differs from depth on the forehead. Pretreatment cleansing, topical anesthesia, and a sterile single-use cartridge are standard.
Most patients see best results from a series of three to four sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. Maintenance sessions twice yearly are common.
For deeper indications — atrophic acne scars, more advanced photoaging — radiofrequency microneedling reaches deeper layers and is sometimes the better tool.
What to expect
Topical numbing for 30 minutes before the session. The treatment itself is 30–45 minutes. Skin is pink and warm for the next 24 hours; mild flaking for 2–3 days is possible. Most patients return to makeup the following day.
Visible glow at one to two weeks. Collagen remodeling continues for 6–12 weeks per session.
Candidacy
Best for patients with surface texture, pore concern, or mild scarring who want a no-downtime series. Not for active infection or flare in the treatment area, recent isotretinoin, pregnancy, or keloid history.
